Interestingly, approach to patients with spine pain are co-related with their imaging studies and the patient is tutored to believe the same. However with modern interventional pain management approach, location of pain generator and targeting the same holds promise towards patient symptom and disease relief.
Example: Disc prolapse indention on the spinal nerve causing pain in the legs or hands are being co-realted with the MRI images and is believed to be the primary pain generator. However interventionist target the pain generator directly thereby confirming the diagnosis as well causing pain relief. Classically, after examining a patient of sciatica, and co-relating the imaging studies, interventionist's first option is to diagnose and relieve the pain rather than to let the pathology progress and allow the patient suffering.
